People with epilepsy take daily medication to control their seizures. In addition, there are also other treatments that can be used successfully with some people. These can include the following:

Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
This treatment uses brain stimulation via a large nerve in your neck called the vagus nerve. It involves surgically implanting a small device in the upper left chest and attaching it to the vagus nerve. Regular electrical impulses are then sent to the brain.

Ketogenic Diet
This is a diet that includes lots of fat and hardly any carbohydrates. Used with young children, this is not a do-it-yourself diet. It is a serious medical treatment and you must be very disciplined to make it work.

Surgery
Surgery can be used to remove a small area of the brain where the seizure activity begins. This treatment can work for some people, but is always a treatment of last resort.

There is currently no cure for epilepsy, but there are lots of effective treatment options. There is even a special diet that helps to stop seizures in some people.  These videos can
